INFORMATIVE, SUMMATIVE, ALIGNED, AND VARIED ASSESSMENT
Assessment of Student Learning in 21st century classrooms should be:
- Informative - Assessment activities should inform the teacher and the students of individual and collective progress as well as areas of needed reteaching/relearning. Students should be active participants in the assessment of their learning.
- Summative - Assessment activities should also provide information about mastery of the content via evaluation of knowledge, skills, products, and processes.
- Aligned- Assessment should be aligned with content, communication, learning, and the milieu.
- Varied - Multiple assessment strategies should be employed.
